THE OPENING OF GRUPO DOS AMIGOS DE OLIVENÇA IN ÉVORA
On Saturday, 3rd November at 15.30, the opening of the official delegation of the Grupo dos Amigos de Olivença took place in the city of Évora, at the Galeria dos Duques de Cadaval, Jardim do Paço.
The ceremony was led by the GAO President, Dr Humberrto Nuno de Oliveira who pointed out the importance of such an event and emphasised the part that Évora will play in the cause. The Evorian delegation President, Engineer Vasco da Câmara Pereira gave a speech on the dispute of Olivença. The Grupo dos Amigos de Olivença president considered of "great relevance the relaunch of a GAO local delegation in this Alentejan city, the capital of the district to which Olivença would be a part when reintegrated in national territory.".
An equal initiative is expected for Beja, probably in November, and then Elvas and Portalegre. GAO also plans in the near future public delegations to open in Galicia, Brazil, England and South Africa.
